How the student houses looks like in your memory? For the people like me who has left school for 14 years, I never thought I can have my own kitchen in my flat, a personal ensuite is best I can wish for. While Inspired by the tiny house movement, Standard Studio transformed office building ‘Hermes City Plaza’ into a residential building with 218 student houses which are used to house the freshman year students by Erasmus University.
With total 18m2, this micro student home is fully equipped with a toilet, shower, vanity, kitchen, dining table, desk, couch, queen size bed and plenty of storage space. Queen size bed? Impossible? With clever design, the bed is attached to the ceiling and hangs 2 meters above the floor. The stairs toward bed have been transformed into all kinds of storage space.
Due to the limitation of space, have both a vanity unit and a sink in the kitchen is not impossible. Hence they have been ingeniously combined - The sink is divided by a floating panel, on the bathroom side, the floating panel is a mirror and on the kitchen side, it is a handy chalkboard. Honestly, I can’t ask more if I am a student and can live in such place in my first year.
